Howell

Margaret (1946). English designer. She graduated in fine arts from Goldsmith’s College in London in 1970. The following year she started to sell shoes to several shops. In 1972 she added women and menswear to her catalogue. She reinvented the white shirt of English businessmen, rendering it softer. Her style is English, sophisticated, educated, and traditional. It is quintessentially preppie with a few variations on the theme: cardigans, pleated skirts, and pullovers in traditional fabrics, such as tweed and cashmere. She has presented her Collections at exhibitions since 1995.
The new Collection was presented through the photography of Bruce Weber, who first collaborated with Howell in the 1980s.
