HEIDI KLUM: WOMAN OF A THOUSAND TALENTS

Heidi Klum was born in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, on June 1, 1973.

Blond hair, protruding cheekbones and legs so long, and gorgeous that Klum even went so far as to insure them for over two million dollars!

Certainly, the role she is best known for is her brilliant supermodel career. But her talents do not stop there: she is also a nice and successful stylist, actress and a TV presenter.

BIOGRAPHY

Heidi grew up in Germany. In 1992, at the time nineteen, she participated in a beauty contest, Model 92. she won the contest against 25,000 other participants and appeared on television for the first time, in the German Late-Night-Show Gottschalk, directed by Thomas Gottschalk .

By winning the competition, she also gets a model contract with a minimum salary of $ 300,000. However, Heidi rejects the offer, as she wanted to finish her schholing at the Integrierte Gesamtschule Paffrath.

Also in 92, she begins to participate in several castings as a model. Her career starts in Hamburg, but shortly after she moves first to Paris and then to Milan.

In 1993 she first settled in Florida, in Miami, for a short period, and later in Manhattan, New York, where she still lives today.

In 1996 she founded her own brand: Heidi Klum GmbH. Heidi has always had a great passion for fashion design, but she had to give it up to start modeling.

THE TURN IN FASHION: VICTORIA’S SECRET

The real turning point for her career came when, in 1997, she participated in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show , thus becoming a real top model.

In 1998 she was the first German model to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

The following year she was offered a contract as a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
Klum and Adriana Lima were the only two models to get the chance to wear the famous Fantasy Bra, a diamond studded bra. This happened on three different occasions:
– 1999: Klum wears the Millenium Bra, worth 10 million dollars;
– In 2001, she wore the Heavenly Star Bra, made up of 1200 pink Sri Lankan sapphires and a 90-carat diamond in the center, worth 12.5 million dollars.
– in 2006 with the Very Sexy Fantasy Bra, made with 6000 precious stones and a pendant composed of a 70-carat diamond, worth 11 million dollars.

With the arrival of 2000, she begins to appear in magazines such as Vogue (English, German and French editions), Victoria’s Secret Catalog, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Glamor and others.

In 2005 she is one of the five Angels to participate in the Angel Across America tour, together with Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima, Gisele Bündchen and Alessandra Ambrosio.

Two years later, she and the other Angels receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles.

In 2010 she stopped modeling for Victoria’s Secret.

In January 2013, Klum launched her underwear line: Heidi Klum Intimates Line , both for women and men. The collection is conceived in collaboration with the giant Bendon, of which Klum is testimonial for Spring-Summer 2015.

Since June 2017, the topmodel has been engaged with the German chain Lidl and has also been the testimonial of a collection signed by her.

ACTRESS AND CONDUCTOR

In 1999 she made her debut as an actress in the ABC sitcom Spin City. She plays herself, as Michael J. Fox’s object of desire.

In 2001 she got a small part in the film  Blow dry by Paddy Breathnach starring Alan Rickman. She plays the part of an eccentric model named Jasmine, disputed between two hairdressing brothers.

Also in 2001 she sang with Wheatus at  Fashionably Loud Europe , an event held in Milan and promoted by MTV .

In addition, she appears in the second episode of the fourth season of Sex and the City, playing herself who walks for Dolce & Gabbana with Carrie Bradshaw, the protagonist of the series.

She is also guest star in The Weber how, Malcolm, Ella Enchanted and The Devil Wears Prada.

From 2004 to 2017 she leads and is a judge at Project Runway, an American fashion talent show, together with Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. At the same time, she also lead Germany’s next Top model.

Later, she began a relationship with the Italian entrepreneur Flavio Briatore, from whose union Leni Olumi, now also a model, comes to light.

In May 2005 she married the singer Seal, in Mexico. They had three children: Henry, Johan and Lou. In 2009, Leni was adopted by Seal.

In April 2012, the couple separated and effectively divorced in 2014, while Klum was dating her bodyguard, Martin Kristen.

From 2017, Klum was in a relationship with art dealer Vito Schnabel. Which ended very quickly.

In 2018, however, she began a relationship with Tom Kaulitz, guitarist of Tokio Hotel and the two get married in February 2019.
