Armine Harutyunyan: model included by Gucci in the list of the 100 most beautiful models in the world

Armine Harutyunyan is a model of Armenian origin born in 1997. She studied Graphic Design at the Yerevan State Institute of Fine Arts and Theatre. Her grandfather is a nationally renowned painter, appreciated for his search for light and for the themes he deals with (in his paintings you can see clear references to Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy). She was noticed by a talent scout during a stay in Berlin. A month later she was called for an audition at Maison Gucci.

She officially debuted on the catwalk in 2019 with the Gucci spring / summer 2020 collection. The fashion show, designed by Alessandro Michele, arose some controversy due to the topic addressed: the weakness of the individual, subjected to the power of the strongest. Harutyunyan became the protagonist, with her colleagues, of an introspective scene that explained, in her own way, the origin of the project. The straitjacket, supplied in psychiatric hospitals, became the cult item of the collection: a garment that, in any case, was never be sold.

A few months later, unwillingly she became the protagonist of a series of insults on social media due to her unconventional beauty. The anger of web users ignited after Gucci placed her among the most beautiful models in the world. She was victim of body shaming due to her angular features, her aquiline nose and thick eyebrows. Despite the storm that overwhelmed her, the young Armine did not break down, letting all the insults she received slip over her.
