Ferrario

Haute-couture atelier in Milan, active between the two world wars and immediately after. As to reputation and quality, it was one of the great names, immediately after Fercioni and Gandini and alongside Moro and Giunta (a real Milanese dressmaker, very traditional: she served the solid, reserved bourgeoisie with everything from trousseaus to wedding dresses and tailored suits to evening gowns. It was of French inspiration, as one said in those days, and would purchase patterns and samples directly from the celebrated Parisian maisons or from the so-called model makers and then reproduce them many times and in different fabrics, adjusting the garment to the taste or the size of this or that lady. The atelier was on via Montenapoleone. It had a large clientele, probably not from the nobility, but rich. After the death of the owner, his daughter continued the business for some time.
