Doeuillet-Doucet

French house of haute couture. In 1920, Georges Doeuillet, who learned the profession working for the sisters Callot and trained his eye by writing articles on fashion, opened his own atelier in partnership with some English friends. He built his name as the French subsidiary of an established London mother-company specialized in dresses and cloaks. When, in 1928, a year before his death, Jacques Doucet lost interest in his own firm, Doeuillet didn’t let the opportunity slip by and annexed it to his atelier, a avant-guard griffe for sophisticated women’s clothing. The Doeuillet-Doucet maison, despite the addition of new partners, closed in 1937.
