Dessanges

Jacques (1925). French hairdresser. He patented a system for natural permanents. After an apprenticeship with Louis Gervais, he made his début in 1956 in Paris. Within 4 years, he had hired one hundred workers: it was evidence of immediate success, confirmed by the opening of more than 20 salons in France in the 1960s and 1970s, and the start of a franchise system, which was something new in the world of hairdressers. Over time, these franchisees spread his name all over the world through 500 hair salons in which the Dessanges style and technique are practiced. In order to guarantee the same quality in every franchised salon, he opened a school in Paris for cutting and hairdressing as well as make-up, a field in which he launched himself with his own line of products in 1991.
