Cara Delevingne, British model and actress iconic face of brands such as Burberry and Dior

Cara Delevingne was born in London on the 12th of August 1992. Delevingne began modeling at the age of 10 in an editorial shot by Weber for Vogue Italia and in the Cadbury chocolate campaigns in Britain. At the age of fifteen, she signed her first contract with the Storm Model Management Agency. She did photoshoots for Asos and in the meantime she studied acting at Bedales, an exclusive private school in Hampshire. Thick eyebrows, ice-cold eyes and a strong humor made her conquer the fashion industry. In 2010 she made her debut on the catwalk with Burberry for the autumn/winter 2011 collection. As a model she continued to work with the biggest fashion brands in the world, from Chanel to Dior, conquering the catwalks of: Moschino, Jason Wu, Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Fendi and Stella McCartney. Moreover she was the face of the advertising campaigns of H&M, Zara and many international covers of Vogue, the magazine that named her “crush of the season”.

Acting career

Her childhood dream was to become an actress, so she made her film debut in 2011 with the film “Anna Karenina” alongside Keira Knightley. In 2014 she got a role in “The Face of an Angel” and shortly after she played the protagonist in the Hollywood adaptation of John Green’s novel “Paper Towns”. In 2014 she starred in “The face of an angel”, thanks to which she earned a nomination for best newcomer at the British Independent Film Awards. She won the British Fashion Awards as Model of the Year in 2012 and 2014. In September of the same year, in collaboration with Mulberry, she launched a collection of bags inspired by her personality.

In 2015, when Forbes magazine named her the second highest paid model in the world, she announced that she wanted to leave fashion shows for good to devote herself only to cinema. Delevingne said that stress and forced thinness triggered a severe form of skin psoriasis. In April 2015, Delevingne starred alongside Ben Affleck and Margot Robbie in “Suicide Squad”. For this film she received the “AnTEENcipated” Movie Actress Award at the Teen Choice Awards in 2016. Then she starred in “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets” and the Amazon Prime Video fantasy TV series Carnival Row with Orlando Bloom.

Despite taking a step back from a full-time modeling career, Delevingne appeared on the covers of Glamour, GQ and Elle. In February 2018 she made a triumphant return to the catwalk with Christopher Bailey for Burberry, a celebration of LGBTQIA youth, which she strongly supports. The following year she walked a snowy catwalk for the Chanel fall/winter 2019 collection at the Grand Palais in Paris together with her fellow models to pay homage to Karl Lagerfeld.
