David

David Jean-Louis was a french hairdresser. Born in Grasse, the son and grandchild of hairdressers, he became first hairstylist at Carita-Alexandre at the age of 21. In 1960, David started his own business, on Avenue de Wagram in Paris. Nine years later, in combination with the photographs of Alice Spring, he was behind the success of the first layered haircut. In the 1980s, he created the androgenic look. In the decade that followed, he offered women a new technique: extreme rapidity of execution and long-lasting wavy hair. Today David heads an important network of franchised hairdressers, with 950 worldwide by 1996, in France, Switzerland, Benelux, Italy, Spain, Poland, Brazil, and the U.S.
