DAVID CATALÁN IS A PORTUGUESE MENSWEAR BRAND TARGETED AT YOUNG PEOPLE, FOUNDED BY THE HOMONYMOUS DESIGNER

The David Catalán brand is based both in Porto, in Portugal, and in Madrid, in Spain. Founded in 2013, it produces menswear and womenswear. Since 2014, David Catalán has been presenting his collections at the EGO festival during the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week of Madrid. For his debut collection, the stylist received the Fashion Talent Award and since then his collections have been presented during international fashion shows such as the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week of Istanbul and Altaroma. After achieving a considerable success, the brand became a fixed presence at the Portugal Fashion Week and it also participated in many editions of Pitti Immagine, also entering the Milan Fashion Week.

THE STYLE

David Catalán created clothes for everyday life; sober but colourful, with unusual combinations. The designer’s aim is that of combing a classic style with a more risqué one, always in the name of high quality. David Catalán’s men’s wardrobe mixes elegant tailored pieces with edgy accessories and oversized streetwear garments.

He is inspired by workwear and the casual style of leisure wear. In fact, in his portfolio, there are also denim jackets and trousers, padded waistcoats with practical pockets, hats and soft bucket bags. An example of this is the fall winter 2021-2022 collection entitled “Reworks”, a revisitation in modern and urban key of workwear, most of all that of construction workers.

For the fall winter collection, taking inspiration from daily life, he paid homage to sports fans, reinterpreting key elements such as scarfs, hats, joggers and t-shirts.
