Daks
English brand of men’s clothing. The traditional English Style is offered in a modern key, with exclusive fabrics made only for the firm. The history of the brand began in 1894 when Simeon Simpson established a company in London offering service that was considered, at the time, extraordinary: custom-made suits in 24 hours. The business was successful to the point that Simeon’s son Alexander opened a new company in 1917. The story went on until 1991 when the Simpson family sold the business to the Japanese family Sanyo Seiko, who maintained the brand name and the line without change. The style has, in fact, remained the same up until today, with clothes in velvet, flannel, wool, and alpaca, and a town-country line based on shades of brown, forest green, blueberry, and pewter.
Launch of the Spring-Summer 2003 Collection with a new luxury line for men and women, the Daks Collection. It accompanies the classic Daks Signature line (which goes back to 1894) and the more recent London E1, meant for a younger audience. Timothy Everest, the current creative director, speaks of an accurate and selective choice, both in terms of clientele and points-of-sale (a maximum of 50 single-brand boutiques and kiosks all over the world). Daks opens a showroom on via Vivaio in Milan.
