Cammarata

Fabio Cammarata (1963). Goldsmith and jeweler. Born in Caltanisetta. After obtaining a degree in architecture from the University of Palermo, and a degree in fashion from the Domus Academy of Milan, he began his work in the world of fashion with Diego Della Valle. Then, continuing the goldsmith tradition of his family, he decided to devote himself to jewellery. In 1996 he established Cammarata Gioielli and opened his own atelier in Milan, on via Statuto. There he presented his gold, silver, pearl, and precious-stone Collections of material-informal taste. Keeping in mind the lessons of modern art — Klimt and Mondrian, Abstraction and Surrealism — and revisiting the classic techniques of goldsmithing — granulation as well as a satin finish — he was able to create designs with a very strong personal touch. After moving to a new space in Largo Treves in 2000, he began a lively series of collective expositions involving other goldsmiths besides himself. These included Giovanni Corvaja, Karl Reister, and Jacqueline Ryan. His research put him in touch with new materials such as fur, feathers, and carved wood, while continuing his development of an ever more refined expressive language through the working of precious metals. In 2003 he moved the administrative offices and workshops to via Spalato, devoting himself especially to a stylistic collaboration with the great houses for which he designed jewels and precious accessories. His creations continue to be sold in Milan, in the store on Largo Treves, which is now managed by Haidea, and in New York at Barneys.
