Bernasconi

Edvige Bernasconi (1938) was an italian journalist. Born in Florence, strong-willed and determined, she started her career in 1961 as a secretary in the editorial office at Successo, a monthly published by Palazzo Editore, and becomes a professional journalist in 1968. A year later, she was already editor-in-chief at Bella and by 1970 she was at Oggi (Rizzoli Editore). In 1980, the publishing group Fabbri appointed her director of the women’s division where, in 1982, she launched the magazine Benissimo. She was then given the direction of the magazine Candy Candy. In 1986 Mondadori put her in charge of planning for women’s periodicals and made her director of Guida Cucina. The magazine Sale & Pepe was launched in 1987. She then devoted herself to a stimulating new project, Donna Moderna, which would be a great success thanks to her brilliant intuition of what a specific, large audience expects from a service magazine: an absolutely innovative concept with an immediate hold on readers. She was also editorial director of Confidenze and Guida TV. In May 1995, at the top of her career, she quit Mondadori and returned to RCS as director of the magazine Anna and editorial director of Bella and Donna Oggi, a magazine launched with the specific aim of offering a contrast to the great expansion of Donna Moderna. That plan did not go well, but, thanks to her authority and successful coordination of a large team, she was able to revitalize Anna which, with a circulation of more than 300,000 copies, is back on top.
She leaves the direction of Anna. Her place is taken by Roselina Salemi.
