Berao

Joaquin Berao (1945) was a spanish jeweller and designer. Born in Madrid, he designed his first Collection betwween 1970 and 1975, and the Bloomingdale’s department store in New York purchased all of it. He opened retail points-of-sale in Spain, Italy and Japan. He doesn’t use semi-precious or precious stones and focuses on the plastic quality of the jewels.
The 30th anniversary of his career is celebrated with the Prince Philip Award, a prestigious prize given to Spanish companies that have distinguished themselves during the year. Berao is chosen for the Design category out of a group of six designers and companies.
The designer’s turnover amounts to more than 10 million Euros and he has stores in Tokyo, Milan, Barcelona and Madrid.
